1980s 5 bed detached makeover

This large 5 bed detached was stuck in a bit of a 1980s timewarp and the new owners contacted me to help update the main living room and master bedroom.  Both very generous spaces, with plenty of light and lots of scope and potential.   The first task was to review the 8m x 5m living room which had a traditional conservatory at one end and a set of double doors in from the hall.  Its always more difficult to zone a large space than a smaller one,  so first decide the function and the use.

The living room had a fireplace right in the middle so decision made to zone the space into thirds - TV area and sociable conversation area to one side of the fire and dining area or temporary play area for their little son by the window. The space was large enough to work with a contemporary style tan and cognac design, with a lighter Scandi option, so in essence showing dark and light options.  This theme was followed through for the large master bedroom which had a dressing area and en-suite, choice was made for the darker options in both cases!
