Exeter Flat Conversion

Mika is Japanese, married to Richard, living in Cheshire they have a well proportioned Edwardian home from the front and a modern wrap around extension on the back and side elevation.  As there is a difference in floor levels at the back of the house the extension is raised over the garden with a floor to ceiling window along the back elevation.  This has created a stunning space for a Japandi style kitchen, sitting and dining area and a mezzanine WFH space between two levels.  The front of the house with its Edwardian period charm in the front hallway and living room and has been modernised to complement the extension.

The kitchen is the most important focal point in the new extension and Mika wanted a black themed one, with a high end finish on worktop, splashback and wood.  Bespoke was the way to go, so still a work in progress.  A simple Japandi style theme was introduced with pale ash parquet flooring and complementary furniture.  Dark walnut and white marble are a potential feature in the kitchen and the dining and sitting area were matched with similar materials.  The fireplace area orginally designed for a woodburner, was changed to a modern log effect electric fire for speed and convenience.   The simple, pared back style really suits the space and the floor to ceiling Crittal windows show off kitchen, living area and WFH mezzanie to great advantage.
