Nina's historic 18th century house was updated with a new kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms etc. Right  in the centre of town, it overlooked a large garden.  However as is usual with old houses, challenging to redesign for modern life but also maintain the character and original features.  Nina contacted me about her north facing living room, a lovely square space, with original oak doors.  But a low ceiling with dark beams, small windows, and dark curtains gave the room an oppressive feel.
