Modern House update, Dartford
Annie was a lovely person to work with …. she was wholly sympathetic to my colour palette and my own style of decorating and came up with ideas that are perfect…she absolutely has a natural flair for design, always responded quickly and has given me the confidence to redecorate and rework my living room: I can't wait to bring her ideas alive!

Nicola's living room is spacious and light with one wall opening onto the garden with folding doors. But Nicola was struggling with the room layout and decor. The previous owners F&B Ammonite paint choice, a grey neutral correctly named by Farrow and Ball as it definitely gave this room a fossilised mood and the full length vertical blinds further emphasised the gloomy ambience. Nicola had also inherited dark, walnut furniture solidly fixed to the wall, too costly to remove. House moves come with inherited decor, but are especially difficult if you can't replace the fixed-to-the wall cabinetry.

Nicola has a lovely, sunny personality and the room has good light and is well proportioned but she was unhappy about the space. We worked through together what wasn't working for her and want she really wanted, as the current arrangement did not make the best use of the space. Nicola really loved the new summery palette I suggested of pale lime, bronze green and pale pink, adding marble and metal accessories, to reflect the garden and light flooding in (minus the vertical blinds!). Perfect for Nicola's sunny character and a totally sympathetic new interior design for the room.
