Modern house update, Dartford

Living room 1.jpeg

Nicola's room had all the elements of a welcoming living room.  Spacious and light with a set of folding doors and a window facing the garden.  But the previous owner's choice of Ammonite paint, a grey neutral correctly named by Farrow and Ball definitely gave the room a fossilised mood.  Further emphasised by vertical blinds obstructing the light and dark, solid walnut furniture fixed to the wall.

Nicola has a lovely, sunny personality and together we worked through why she was unhappy about the space.  Its always difficult inheriting someone's else's decor.  Our discussions revealed Nicola really wanted a Hampton's style in airy, coastal blues and greys.  Not practical as we had to factor in the fixed walnut furniture. So compromise solution was a summery new palette of pale lime wallpaper, Little Green Slaked lime, a bronzey green and pale pink.  Adding marble and gold accessories.  An all round summer scheme for a sunny personality!

Nicola Clarke,

Annie was a lovely person to work with …. she was wholly sympathetic to my colour palette and my own style of decorating and came up with ideas that are perfect…she absolutely has a natural flair for design, always responded quickly and has given me the confidence to redecorate and rework my living room: I can't wait to bring her ideas alive!
