Helen contacted me during her extensive renovation, involving knocking through the front room to the existing kitchen which was being extended. She asked me to redesign the new open plan area and one of the considerations was how to treat the traditional stone fireplace which had great sentimental value as Helen and her husband had chosen the stone together, so it had to stay.
The chimney breast was given an update with Farrow & Ball Purbeck Stone, replacing the fire opening with an easier electric model. Helen was keen to keep her traditional look, but was also keen to give the space a modern feel to complement the new building work. So we introduced a deep pink (which Helen loved) in the fireplace recesses toning it down with Purbeck Stone.
