Kate's New Build, Chepstow
Kate Wilkins
DESIGN BRIEF, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS
When Kate approached me, her goal was to make her new build home in Chepstow feel more cosy and practical. We focused on the living room, kitchen/family room, and master bedroom, creating a relaxing atmosphere with a colour scheme of stone, dark blues, and greys with pink.
Storage solutions were included to keep the space tidy, especially since Kate's girls have a lot of toys. In the kitchen/family room, the aim was to create a cosy area connected to the outdoors with patio doors that opened onto the garden. The taupe kitchen blended with the blue and pink decor in the family area, creating a cohesive look.

We also explored an alternative colour scheme as Kate considered a lovely navy/lime patterned curtain fabric, but although she loved this colour scheme, it was not the final choice, preferring the initial colour palette of a dark blue/grey with pink accents. The kitchen diner, with a set of patio doors onto the garden included a family area where the girls could play or watch TV during the day. The taupe kitchen blended well with the blue/pink decor in the additional family area.
We used the same colour palette in the master bedroom, adding a panelled wall behind the bed to give the room some character. Still a work in progress but Kate is delighted with her style direction, as she now knows exactly how to implement her new interior design strategy and has already starting buying!

Kate's review
"We were moving into a new build house with the view that this was the house we were going to live in for the foreseeable future.
With this in mind we needed the house to work for us, as a young family. With a completely blank canvas we knew what we wanted, to an extent, but needed help to build on this and to envision it.
Annie was recommended to us by a friend who was thrilled with her service. We were excited to have our consultations with Annie, initially to talk about our ideas, loves, needs etc and then to actually see our house on screen in 3D. Together we built a home that will work for our children, for us and for us as a family now and in the future.
The colour palette Annie chose for us is something we might not have considered and it’s now one of our favourite things about the house. Annie was so friendly and helpful. It was an investment and we’re so glad we did it. "
