Victorian knock through open plan

Tom, Leah and family needed help with their characterful Victorian semi.  Plenty of original features and light, but the previous owners had decided it was  good idea to hold up the kitchen and living room walls with a run of kitchen units! They needed help to knock through the tiny existing kitchen and remodel an open plan kitchen, dining, living area. Highlighting the high ceilings and Victorian architectural features.

The area would probably need a 300m steel to span the space, allowing room for a 900m island, with a run of units in a U-shape (one of several different kitchen layouts).  The family own a large dining table and chairs, easily accommodated by the window.  I also created a cosy family area by the French windows, incorporating a woodburner.  A new open plan flexible scheme providing an optional alternative to the front living room.
